Videos can be an excellent addition to pretty much any page on your Shopify store, as they grab the visitor’s attention and convey information in an engaging way.
They’re especially effective on landing pages. Indeed, the whole point of using landing pages for your marketing campaigns is to keep the visitor focused on whatever action is it that you want them to take (submitting their contact information, placing an order for a particular item, etc.) — while text and images can certainly also help you make the conversion, there’s nothing better than video at cutting through all the potential distractions and forming a connection with your customers.
It’s quite easy to create your own video landing page on Shopify using Shogun. In this guide, we’ll show you how.

Creating a Video Landing Page with Shogun
To create a landing page with an embedded video on Shogun, simply follow these steps:
After downloading and installing Shogun, select the “Apps” option in the left sidebar of the Shopify control panel.
Open Shogun.
In the “Pages” section of the Shogun app, hover your mouse over the “Build or edit a page” option — this will open a menu where you can choose to start from scratch or save time with one of Shogun’s pre-made landing page templates.
Whether you use a template or not, you’ll be directed to the next step of customizing your landing page in Shogun’s visual editor.
Click on the “Elements” icon in the left sidebar of the visual editor to open the element library — here, you’ll find an extensive selection of features that you can instantly add to the page, including text, images, customer reviews, countdown clocks, and much more.
Click and hold on the “Video” element and place it wherever you would like your video to be located on the page.
Once the Video element has been added to your page, click on it to open up its customization settings and add the appropriate YouTube or Vimeo link in the “Video URL” field.
There are also many other customization options available for the Video element, such as determining whether the video loops, autoplays, or displays related videos from other channels (this last setting is only available for YouTube video links, and you should consider turning it off for your video landing pages so that your visitors don’t get distracted).
Adding a video background
Again, the main benefit of adding video to your landing pages is that it will help you capture the visitor’s attention — and the bigger the video, the more pronounced this benefit will be. That’s why many landing pages, such as this one on Y.CO, insert a video into the background that takes up the entire width of the visitor’s screen.
To add this effect to your Shopify landing page with Shogun:
Open the page you want to customize in Shogun’s visual editor, then open the element library.
Select the “Container” element and place it on the page.
This element allows you to overlay other design features, such as text or buttons, in front of a full-width image or video background. Once the Container element has been placed on the page, click on it to open the customization settings.
Open the “Background” setting options, click on “Video”, and add your YouTube or Vimeo link.
Showing Different Videos on a Landing Page for Different Shopper Segments
There are many different types of people who will visit your store. Some are close to making a purchase, others are still just doing research. Some may have found your site through a search engine, others through paid advertising, and still others through social media. You’ll also have customers of different ages, who live in different areas, and have different hobbies, interests, and preferences.
With Shogun, you have the ability to speak directly to many of these groups at the same time. This will allow you to make your content more relevant to specific audiences, which should in turn improve your store’s conversion rate and help increase sales.
Open the page you want to customize in Shogun’s visual editor.
Click on the “Personalization” button located near the top-right corner of your screen.
Select “Turn on personalization”.
Set up the audience segment you want to target — Shogun allows you to choose from several types of conditions for creating your segment, including location, referrer, URL, date, day of week, and time of day. You can add multiple conditions to the same segment, and in that case you’ll be able to decide whether all of the conditions or only one of the conditions must be met for the visitor to be included.
Once your new audience segment has been created, you’ll see that a new variant of the page has also been created in the visual editor. Edit this new variant as needed, then save and publish your changes.
After you’ve completed these steps, the audience segment you’re targeting will be shown the alternate version of the landing page, while everyone else will still see the original version.
There are many different ways you can use Shogun’s Personalization feature on a Shopify landing page, including:
If you sell furniture, you could display a video that promotes space-saving items to visitors located in urban areas (where living spaces tend to be relatively cramped) while displaying an alternate video promoting larger items to visitors in rural areas (where living spaces tend to have more room).
You may want to pair the campaign that’s tied to your landing page with a separate promotion, such as 50% off on Fridays. If so, you could then create an alternate version of your landing page video that mentions this extra promotion, but only display it on Fridays in order to avoid confusion.
A decent share of the traffic to your landing page may be coming from TikTok. For these visitors, you could display an alternate version of your landing page video that’s designed to appeal to a younger demographic.
Shogun gives you everything you need to design highly targeted — and, therefore, highly persuasive — ecommerce experiences.
